Misi from Hakupu, Niue, now resides if Masterton, own/operator of a huge farm, live stock of primary sheep, cow and deer, with his wife Margaret, with 3 children. Started shearing in Ekatahuna, traveled internationally on shearing contracts, planted a strong foundation, to enter a Niuean Team in the World Golden Shear 2012 Championship. Mr Tutahava have been involved with the Golden Shears for numbers of years as one of judging panels, strongly inspired him to enter a Niuean team. Misi happily states he was really happy with the outcome, and the results from the Niuean team. Niue Island will be proud to meet Mr Tutavaha on his two weeks visit to Niue on the 10th of March 2012, with his wife Margaret, and Misi's father Hala Tutavaha. Niue Sport, Golden Shears and international event, bought in world class champions from Scotland, South Africa, England, Australia, Chilly, Rarotonga, NZ, Japan and the Niuean Team competed strongly against the world best, in each events.  Representatives from 25 countries competed, compared to 13 the last time the championship was held in New Zealand. A street Parade of all the Counties partaking which starts on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Niue Sport Flag sponsored my the Niue High Commissioner. Kate a uni graduate studied law in Wellington, and heading back to a full time study in Palmerston North straight after the competition. Miss Tutavaha, studying for her diploma in teaching, and aiming high, with a farming back round and the World Golden Shear title, will see Kate, dominating any future events. Niue Sport Raymond King: Shearer Olderst son of Maureen from Hakupu and Peter King from Ekatahuna, with an outstanding performance to dead heat in his Round2 Heat 4, in first Place....and over all at 32nd.  Ray lives in Taihape and a contract shearer, following the foot steps of his dad, supported by wife Kylee and 3 children. Sir Brian, a Wairarapa farmer who contested in the first ever Golden Shears in Masterton in 1961, gave an almost “hero” status to today’s modern day international shearing guns in his speech at last night’s (Thursday March 1) Golden Shears World Championship dinner. “Those competitors who are part of Golden Shears and now the World Championships are part of the World Cup of Shearing. Lets compare it to rugby. When New Zealand hosted the World Cup of rugby, we had the best players – the best prepared.
